Description
Designed the cover and layout for a book focusing on typography and composition inspired by the life and work of animated film director, Hayao Miyazaki.

Concept
For this project, I chose to focus on the art of hand-drawn animation, focusing on the artwork and movies of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. I have always been inspired by his films and style, which is consistently hand-drawn. 

Throughout the book I sought to portray the traditional quality of hand-drawn animation as well as play on how it interacts with modern technology. Early in the project, I knew the artwork was going to be the main focal point of the book so I designed the typography to be strong yet subtle and complementary to the art.
I also wanted a strong and different color to stand apart from all the greens and blues of the artwork: orange is a strong color but not too strong to overpower the artwork.
